EVALUATION OF PERMIT APPLICABILITY
Category: Dust Emissions
Industry: Electronic Scrap Recycling
Project: Evaluation of Air Issues
THE PROBLEM:
The facility’s operating baghouse had the potential to release dust emissions from scrap electronic devices into the air. Due to the potential for air pollution emissions, the facility needed to evaluate the dust to see if the particulate matter was below the benchmarks stated in the Air Quality Control regulations. These benchmarks needed to be met to ensure that the facility was not emitting hazardous air pollutants.
THE SOLUTION:
The client needed to determine if the subject property required an air permit pertaining to these scrap dust emissions.
THE RESULT:
We calculated the facility’s potential to emit (PTE) airborne particulate concentrations and showed that based on the OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Standards and the onsite dust suppression systems the facility was not required to submit an air permit. The facility could then continue normal daily operations.
